Discipleship Studies . . .
First Baptist Church offers many areas for ministry, and one of those key areas is discipleship. Matthew 28:19-20 says, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you."
Spring and Fall Studies
During the Spring and Fall, a wide variety of studies are offered for adults. Study topics include marriage, parenting, evangelism, finances, etc., and some of the Bible studies are by popular authors. These classes meet on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. in the Applegate Building. A new group of studies are offered each semester, and study topics will be posted on a timely basis. Youth and children continue with their regularly scheduled activities during this time.
Winter Study
Each January, Sunday evenings are devoted to a special Winter study for adults. A variety of guest speakers lead us in growing deeper in our relationship with God. Study topics may include prayer, the fundamentals of our faith, etc. This large group study meets in the Outreach Center from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Youth and children continue with their regularly scheduled activities during this time.
Summer Study
Each summer, the church body enjoys a special opportunity to go through a Bible study together. The church-wide Summer Study is always a favorite among members because it brings us together as one body, to grow in fellowship as well as knowledge.
At 5:00 p.m., adults meet in the sanctuary to view a video, and then break out into small groups in the Applegate Building to discuss the week's lesson. Each small group includes a facilitator and is comprised of a variety of ages. Youth meet in the Outreach Center for a related study and activities, and children have their related study in the Ray Children's Building. At 6:30 p.m., adults, youth, and children gather for a time of food and fellowship in the Outreach Center.
